PayMePlz is intended for use by individuals and small businesses collecting their own accounts. This site is not for use by debt collectors. PayMePlz does not collect debt; we provide a service helping those collecting their own debts communicate with their debtors. This page is intended to provide common-sense guidelines for communicating with those who owe you money; this is not legal advice.
Do not send sms or voice reminders when others may have access to the phone of the person who owes you money. Do not send email reminders to shared email addresses.
Only contact the person who owes you money. Do not contact any third parties. If the party who owes you money is an individual, don't contact them at work.
A past-due notice is personal and should only be received, seen and/or heard by the person who owes you money.
Don't let your emotions get involved; stay to the facts of the debt and what you are owed. The following means of communication are prohibited. Any reported violations are subject to a take-down notice:
(A) Profanity or obscenity
(B) Harassing, oppressive, or abusive language of any kind
(C) Misleading statements
(D) Threats of physical force or criminal means
(E) Any other unfair or unconscionable means
PayMePlz will only allow you to send voice reminders during allowable hours. When creating a voice reminder you specify the contact date and the system determine an allowable time-of-day for the call. Voice reminders can only be sent to US phone numbers.
Stop sending reminders if requested by the party who owes you money. If you are notified that the person who owes you money has filed bankruptcy you should stop contact with them and instead contact the bankruptcy court.
Only send sms or voice reminders to numbers the party who owes you money has given you consent to use.
Only send email reminders to addresses the party who owes you money has given you consent to use.
Identify yourself in your communications. It is important to remember that your Email Reminders will come from "reminder@paymeplx.com" and will include your return email address in the message. SMS Reminders and Voice Reminders will be made from a computer-controlled PayMePlz phone number, so you should identify yourself in these communications so your debtor will know who to pay!
Remember that emails, text messages and other forms of digital communication never really "go away" even when you delete them. They leave a trail and can be found again. Remember this when you send your communications; don't send something you'll be sorry about later.
If you are a business collecting consumer debt, federal and state regulations may apply to you. PayMePlz does not offer legal advice. If you have any questions about whether or how you should use this service, please consult your attorney.
